Father-Son Camp out

This Spring, Cubby and Christian went on their first Father-Son camp out!  They had a great time and it was really fun to hear about their experience from Christian.
Cubby said the weather was perfect and they actually slept pretty well!
The next morning, I'm guessing Christian ate his weight in pancakes.  Yum!
After such a fun time, I know Christian would LOVE to go camping again!

CHEEKS!!

Ohhhh I just love this baby's cheeks!!

TOSHE Concert

Emily was in a special musical club called "TOSHE" in the winter and spring.  One afternoon each week, and often during lunches or recesses, they would learn and practice their music.  In December, there was a dinner for all of the area principals that they performed at with members of the same group from another school.  Then, in May, they all held a performance for all of the families.  They did a lot of rhythm pieces, along with quite a few songs.  Of course, Em did a great job!

Brother-Sister Bond

Christian loves his baby sister.  And she loves him.  Christian loves to make Britta laugh, give her soft head kisses, and read stories to her.  And, while it's always wonderful when any of the children love on each other, I think it's especially sweet when I see Christian showing such tenderness.  It makes me think what a wonderful husband and father he will become one day :-).

Fancy Feet

Christian really enjoys playing soccer.  He plays for his club team, Evolution.  He plays in the backyard with his friends after school and on the weekends.  Still, he really wants to get "faster feet."  So, on his own, he set up cones in the yard and ran a few drills.  I really admire Christian's work ethic.  He works hard and doesn't give up.  Keep it up, Christian!

A (Little) Sister Time

Having a sister is having a built-in best friend (most days, at least).  Especially if they're close in age and you have every afternoon to play together!  Kari and Juliana were able to spend each afternoon playing together this past Spring and boy, was it sweet to watch!  Whether it was watching Pony Rocks (or whatever other weird show they liked), playing bumper cars outside, or having a dance party in their room, these girls love playing with one another!

They also loved planting flowers with me!  (Juliana was proud to show off her "worm baby."  There were also mommy and daddy worms too.)

I worried how Kari going to kindergarten would affect Juliana (would she miss her too much?  would Juliana be able to play independently?), but, by the end of the summer, it was probably a good thing that they now get a break from one another.  I have really loved one-on-one time hanging out with Juliana while Britta naps.  And, now when the kids have a day off of school (or even on the weekends), the girls really love playing together again--it's a special treat!

Ju Ju Enjoys Her Water Table

May had some gorgeous days so we were excited to get out an enjoy them!  Juliana wasted no time in enjoying her new water table.

Getting our hands wet just wasn't good enough though.  I told her she could climb in with her clothes on (they were already pretty wet), but Juliana was excited to get her swim suit on so we went that route instead.

Testing the waters with her tummy....
And she fits!  (Kind of)

A couple of bum shots--they just capture the "essence" of being three, don't you think?

So content.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Juliana!

Our spunky little Juliana turned THREE back on May Day!  She was pretty excited to celebrate her big day (and who wouldn't be, right?).  She was ready to party at breakfast time!
By lunchtime, the novelty had worn off a bit as she realized that it STILL wasn't party time!

But then party time was upon us!  This past year, Juliana discovered Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood (a PBS spin off of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood).  She LOVED it and so it became the theme of her party!
I didn't go too over-the-top (it's a 3 yr old's party, after all), but I still did a few things.  Lucky for me, Juliana had a couple of toys that went perfectly with the theme!
I printed a few things off of the internet--easy peasy.
And stuck with bright, primary colors for the rest of the decor.
For one of our games, we played "pin the watch on Daniel Tiger."  I did a rough drawing of Daniel and Emily helped me color it all in.  She even ran the game!

Juliana was happy to play and then watch her friends do the same.

One of her gifts was a new picnic table!

 Here are her cakes!
We also had a dance party (not super Daniel Tiger-y, but Juliana loves to dance and so did everyone else!)

We also decorated crowns with stickers.  Kids love crafts :-).
