Brave Mommy

Early summer is the best time, in my experience, to pack in the fun timers around town.  (By the end of the summer I'm too hot and too tired of having everyone home all the time to do much more than head to the pool!)  So, it was the first couple of weeks of summer that I was brave and took all five kids to the zoo by.my.self.  And, it was great!  I let everyone pick one spot they wanted to visit and we made our way around the zoo!

I also told everyone that as a treat we could all ride the carousel!  (And I only got a little motion sick!)

Love my little monkeys!

Strawberry Pickin'

I took the four big kids strawberry picking on a beautiful summer day.  It's always fun to put children into nature.  They fuss and complain a bit, but once they get going, it's like finding buried treasure; looking for all of the best berries!

I am so blessed to be able to go and have these experiences with my children!

Taking It Easy in the Summertime

As I'm writing this (Feb 1, 2016), we are in the middle of a blizzard warning.  Makes me excited for the warm spring and summer months that will eventually come our way again.

Family History, I Am Doing It...

The kids got into a family history kick and it was fun to see {some} of it laid out on our chalk board wall.  Cubby's line actually goes QUITE a ways back...too far to write.  The book Christian is looking at is Cubby's line.

All Partied Out

Fun Park Party

For Christian's 8th birthday party, we went to Papio Fun Park!  This was the first year we have gone anywhere (other than our backyard) for his party.  (Boys are so easy to please--just give them water guns and a pool and they're happy!)  But, since he was turning eight, we wanted to do something different.  And it was really fun!

My attempt at a soccer jersey cake.
I didn't make the sleeves long enough and it turned out more like a volleyball jersey.
It was still tasty though!
 First up, laser tag!
Then, we headed outside for go-carts.  (The boys were all old enough to ride by themselves!)  Check out  those clouds in the distance.  Yes, it POURED rain not too long after they rode.

Driving is pretty intense.
The kids also squeezed in a quick game of mini-golf before the rain came.

Kari opted for some ski ball.
Time to eat!

Nash was so hungry, the plate was even good.

Cael cleaned up on the tickets!!
Here's little B and Mommy.  (A selfie of us both as proof that we were there!)
It was a great birthday party, even though it rained and the boys couldn't get back outside.  On the plus side, everyone got a free extreme wristband voucher and we got to go back and play more another day!

It's Great to be Eight!

Waaaayyy back at the end of May 2015, our wonderful son, Christian, turned eight!  He had a super fun day celebrating with friends and family and playing lots of soccer!  It seems like not so long ago that Christian was just this pudgy little toddler who loved trucks, dinosaurs, and his mommy.  Well, he still loves his mommy (hurray!) but his loves now include soccer, basketball, and electronics.  Here are a few highlights from his big day...
In front of his new soccer goal with new jersey, shoes, and ball!

When Christian was little, his catch-phrase was "still hungry!"  Some things never change...
Christian and Sullivan, chowing down at Freddy's.

This was sooo sweet--Kari and Christian, who are often at odds with one another, out playing soccer together.
A Kindle fire!  Huzzah!
 Goalie gloves!!!

A better goalie already!
More celebration fun to come!
