Polish Sausage ... Ditka ... Ditka ... Bears ... Sausage

Praise the Lord--Moustache Day is officially OVER! Cubby has been growing his beard/moustache since Thanksgiving all in preparation for Friday, February 26th. Not even his daughter's own blessing day could deter him and his quest for the ultimate 'stache.

Last night, he shaved off everything but the moustache...it was creepy looking, for sure. But, it was all part of his "character"--can you guess who??

Todd O'Connor from Bill Swerski's Superfans (and old SNL skit for those of you who aren't hip - go ahead and google it - it's hilarious). Go ahead, try and not do the dance.

Kyle also participated. However, he included a nasty haircut with his stache:

Yes, that is a business in front, party-in-back mullet. Disgusting.

Neither won the competition (Cubby did place in the top 5).

This is the official winner. Check out those chops!!
Cubby's already wondering what he should do next year....any suggestions??

What Will Happen On Sunday??

This is Kari's favorite pasttime lately--watching the Olympics. She LOVES to lay on the floor, sucking on her binkie (a first for my kiddos!) and...watching the Olympics. In fact, she gets rather grumpy when the commercials come on or we change the channel :-). I'm thinking we may want to record some of them because come Sunday, when the Olympics are done, we may be in trouble! Perhaps she'll enjoy March Madness...

Difference of Opinions

Christian was looking through Cubby's Sports Illustrated the other day. He came across the following ad:
He pointed to her and said to Cubby: "Mommy!" Cubby and I had a pretty good laugh. It's sweet that he thinks I look like Brooklyn Decker. If only....

The next day, Emily saw a commercial for the Ab-Roller, and said to me, "Mommy, let's get that, because your tummy is soft from having baby Kari." She's so thoughtful.

A Valentine From Kari

This little outfit was a gift from my friend, Julie, and it fits her so perfectly! She felt very festive indeed.

Happy Valentine's Day! Love, Kari

Partying with Grandma and Grandpa Lindseth

We had such a fantastic time with Grandma and Grandpa Lindseth! The kiddos are seriously going through withdrawl now that they're gone! And, to be honest, I'm going through withdrawl as well now that my two extra sets of baby-holding hands are gone too! During their time here, the "big kids" got to do so many activities. They also got to each spend either a morning or an afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa on their own. Below are some of the fun timers that we had while they were visiting:

Watching Daddy play basketball... and Emily found a feather :-)

Emily got an afternoon at the zoo! (Yes, it was FREEZING outside, but Grandma and Grandpa knew how much Emily LOVES the zoo and they braved the elements for her!) Emily said that the sharks and rays had missed her.

Christian's morning out included the "Mud Pies" program at Fontenelle Forest and some french fries and a milk shake at Summer Kitchen.

Both kiddos got to go to the movie theater for the first time! ("Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" was playing--a new family favorite! And, yes, by coincidence, Emily's friend, Xavier, was there too!)

We all went to BounceU one morning--Grandpa made it a personal goal to get through the obstacle course--we think he may just try out for "Survivor" :-).

Flying high and having a blast!

Finally, some quiet time...both Grandpa and Grandma enjoyed meeting little Kari--and she's never slept so well! (And for that matter, Cubby and I both got to sleep well as they told Emily and Christian to come down and wake them up each morning so that we could sleep in! They were so excited about this that on the first morning, it was just before 6:00!!!)

Thank you soooo much, Mom and Dad Lindseth, for making the drive during these snowy times and helping out so much while you were here. We all miss you very much! Come back soon!

Blessing Day

We blessed Kari this past Sunday. It was really a special day in so many ways. Grandma and Grandpa Lindseth had come in for a visit--well, to rescue me :-)--and so we took the opportunity to bless her. (In our church we give babies a name and a father's blessing.) Along with Grandma and Grandpa, we had other friends and family there as well. Kari did so well! (Emily and Christian both fussed through their blessings!)

Then, that afternoon, we went over to my mom's house for dinner and some pretty (yummy) cupcakes! Unfortunately, Emily had come down with a little stomach bug and so she wasn't up for much entertainment. But, we all enjoyed good company and celebrating Kari's birth.

Later that evening, when we got home, Emily was still pretty sick. Cubby and his dad were able to give her a blessing. It was also very special. This type of blessing helped her to relax and feel peace so that her body could heal. It was so sweet to witness Emily's simple faith and to see Cubby's priesthood used in two ways that day. I feel so fortunate to have the blessing of the priesthood in our home to help and heal our children.

It was a very special day, indeed.

SLEEPLESS IN NEBRASKA...

So here are just a couple of updated pictures of Kari. I'm not getting much more creative on my posting b/c she's decided that sleeping for more than 2 hrs at a time is just not something she's interested in doing this week. Yeah, I'm exhausted. Grandma and Grandpa Lindseth are coming into town tomorrow and so hopefully I'll be able to catch up on some sleep soon. Ugh. Kari's darling but man-oh-man, I can't wait until this "newborn" stage is OVER.
