The World Cup

The World Cup was this year and we really enjoyed watching the games.  Christian, being a soccer player and all, really got into it.  Watching him was just as much fun as watching the games themselves!

Summer Sports Camps

Emily, Ella, Brooklynn, Macy, (and Campbell :-))
This summer we discovered the wide world of summer sports camps!  For a week each, Emily did volleyball and tennis and Christian attended basketball and baseball.  They LOVED going and had a great time learning some new skills along the way.  (I loved it b/c it got them exposed to different sports for a great price and no long-term commitment from us if they didn't like it!)
Christian, Sullivan, and Andy

These boys are so cute!  Time will pass too quickly and soon enough they'll be all grown up...sniff, sniff!
Christian got a nickname at baseball camp, "Chuck."  I'm guessing it's bc he wore his Converse Chuck Taylor shoes to camp.  He was tickled that he got a nickname though and really enjoyed baseball.  He has a great swing and arm too.  Maybe if Mom were more willing to sit out in the heat and humidity all spring and summer he could play more often....then again, he can just grab his Dad or Grandpa and play catch in the yard :-).
(He's in the orange hat)
Christian's buddy, Caleb, did baseball camp with him.
The last camp was tennis camp.  Emily and her friend, Louisa, who is moving this week (boo) got to do this together.  Emily's other long-time buddy, Kristin, also was there and the girls all had a fun time together!

T-Ball and a No.2 Success Story!

This summer Emily and I have spent 3 innings each Saturday playing T-ball! ("Mighty Sluggers'" games are only 3 innings long.) Emily is a good little ball player--she was the only girl on her team! I was the coach and even though it took a lot of energy (I have a new respect for all coaches, whether you coach 4 yr olds or 14 yr olds--it's tough!), it was great to see all of the children have such fun! Here are some highlights from our last game today!

My "Mighty Slugger"!

Up to bat! (If you look closely, you can see our cheering section in the background!)

Doing some warm ups with the team!

In other big news, Christian did his first poo-poos on the potty today! Cubby noticed that Christian had "That Look" about him this morning and asked if he wanted to go on the potty. Christian said yes and then proceeded to do a No. 2! It was very exciting! (He wasn't consistent though, as he ended up having a dirty diaper 2 hrs later, but...it's a start!) We are all so proud of him! Yeah, Christian!!!
