Turkey Day

We had a great Thanksgiving!  It all started bright and early when Cubby and Christian went off to the annual Turkey Bowl in the freezing rain.  Yup.  Nothing holds these boys back.  And more power to them.  I stayed home with the girls and we were warm and dry.

Here are the highlights from our morning....
The girls all made darling turkey hats!

Britta went a little crazy with her yogurt.

Kari helped me make the rolls!  Yummmm....

We all went over to dinner at my mom's house.

Games and books in the family room...
We had a big nerf war in the basement!
Kari opted to color rather than join in the war
Emily and Lindi are all set for the battle!

Sideways headers!
Story time with Grandpa Harvey

Hugs all around!  (My cousin, Ingrid, was in town visiting from France!  So nice to see her and hear about all of her exciting adventures!)

Thanksgiving 2014

Ack!  It's the New Year and I'm still stuck back at Thanksgiving!  Ugh.  So much for trying to stay on top of things...

Well, better late than never, right?  Thanksgiving was, as always, wonderful.  We are so lucky to live so close to family and that I have a mother who takes such pride in making her meals both delicious and beautiful.

This was my small contribution, the rolls.
I must say that they were pretty tasty.
Grandma's house is always fun to play at--she was great at keeping and preserving so many of our toys so now my kids can play with them!

Some post-dinner chatting 'round the table.
Cubby's parents were in town too so Thanksgiving was extra special for us.
Britta did not appreciate Thanksgiving so much...
I think all of the noise and the different surroundings was a bit much for her.
Thank goodness for Great-Grandma--she fell fast asleep on Grandma's shoulder not too long after this picture was taken!
I took more pictures, but with my mom's camera.  Maybe one day I'll be so caught up on everything that I'll be able to go back and add them to this post.  Maybe, but not likely to happen anytime soon {Sigh}.

Thanksgiving 2013

Since it's almost Christmas, I felt it was about time I posted about Thanksgiving!  It was a fun little day, filled with lots' of family fun timers and yummy food, of course!

Cubby got the kids going on a puzzle and I got started on making the rolls for dinner.  Kari jumped right in and really enjoyed helping me knead the dough!
Hard working cooks!
After naptime, we drove out to Grandma Carolyn's house for dinner.  Normally, we go to Mom's house for Thanksgiving and Grandma's for Christmas.  This year, however, we got a little crazy and mixed things up.  Dinner was delicious and we all had fun playing and goofing off afterward.

Juliana thought it was hilarious to poke Uncle Kyle in the eye.

Kari and Emily, giving me some silly and sassy faces.

Jeff, always a good sport, really loves playing games with the kids.

More fun timers!
We're such angels!
Juliana is always a ham for the camera!

When Kari wants to, she takes the cutest pictures!!

We counted our blessings all month long, everyone writing down what they were thankful for on construction paper leaves, and then taping them up to the tree I had drawn on our chalkboard wall.  I hope that it made the children aware of all the things we have to be grateful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving 2012

Happy Thanksgiving!  We have so much to be thankful for.  Most of all, we have such a terrific family!  Thanksgiving is typically spent at my mom's house and, as always, was lovely (and very yummy).  We took some pictures in the hopes that maybe one would turn out for Christmas cards.  Actually, they ended up turning out better than we'd expected!  (We've learned to keep our expectations pretty low so we can only end up happy with the results!)

Thanksgiving!

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! We had a lovely day (and that's not just because it was the warmest Thanksgiving that I can remember! Seriously, it warmed up to where the kiddos could wear short sleeves.) The day started out with our family participating in our YMCA's Turkey Trot! We did 1.7 miles--and Emily and Christian actually ended up running most of the way with minimal complaints! Yeah, I was impressed. Cubby and Kari were a bit slower due to Kari wanting to get out and do some of her own running, then more riding, then being carried, then pushing the stroller. But, it was a lot of fun and the kids were so excited that they'd gotten to run in a race! For dinner we went over to Mom's (Grandma's). She had coloring and fun stuff set out for the kids (since they eat with lightening speed and the rest of us like to take our time!)After dinner, we decorated a family gingerbread house. Fun timers--although Emily wouldn't decorate with any cereal-based food.

Christian ended up eating more frosting than went on his side of the house! That kid loves his sweets.

After dessert we went into the living room where my mom lit up their Christmas tree to begin the holiday season! Kari treated us to some festive tunes (not really, but she sure looked cute sitting at the piano!)

I caught Christian in a (rare) down moment, coloring!Being with family and eating delicious food--what more could you ask for in Thanksgiving??!
