Christian had his 9 month check up this morning! (I like the 9 month one because they don't have to get any shots!) Here are his latest stats: (this is more for family that live far away and don't get to see him as often)
23 lbs 10 oz (90%)
29 1/2 inches (88%)
47 1/4 cm for head (95%)
He's a Lindseth so, of course, his head is a big large--ha! He's just as healthy as ever and we're so blessed that he is. I really tend to take that good health for granted and I know that not every child is so lucky.
After the doctor's office, and a quick trip to the YMCA to pick up a preschool packet for Emily (it was like pulling teeth to get one before registration begins tomorrow!), Christian fell asleep and Emily and I were able to spend some quality time together. We painted her toenails, read books, and played outside (it is gorgeous today--yeah!!!). It was really wonderful to be able to do that since it's always difficult to give her my undivided attention when Christian is awake. Right now I'm trying to teach her how to eat a grape--she's like a chipmunk who just likes to store it in her cheek and won't bite down on it. Silly girl.

Breaking Dawn
For all those Twilight fans out there, here is the information on the release of the fourth book, Breaking Dawn. It also lets us all know when the movie will be out...just in time for Christmas! (For anyone who has not read this series yet, read it! You won't be able to put it down, sadly enough!) Enjoy! http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/breakingdawn.html

Turkey Toes
No, this picture has not been altered. Emily is really eating turkey with her toes--YUCK! Obviously, her father had everything to do with this and thought it was just hilarious! He told her she was Curious George and to eat like he does. I'm so glad that he finds the humor in everyday life as sometimes I need a fresh dose of it.
On another note, in my quest for fitness, I'm trying to find the best time and method to do it. I went to another spin class tonight and although I enjoyed it, and my legs are tired, I'm not sure that it gives me the same workout as a good run. I definitely don't get as sweaty or as much of a cardio, but I can still feel different muscles working. So, I'll keep it up as a good cross-training workout, but I think I'll try and get my bum out of bed in the morning and run then. (Christian has slept all night the last two nights and so I haven't been a zombie the last two mornings...it gives me hope for a morning workout!) That way, I don't have to leave poor Cubby with the kids in the evening so I can exercise. Anyhow, if anyone has found a good routine that works for them, I'd love the input!

Today Was A Good Day...
I really like Saturdays. Cubby is home and if we all get up and going early enough, we get lots' done! Granted, the kids are always up bright and early (don't they know it's Saturday?) but sometimes it takes a bit to get going.
In any case, this morning we had the Conover boys over to play, I got one bathroom cleaned, and Christian took a great nap (an hour and 45 min!--a new record!) Then, after lunch I took the kids up to the Church where Cubby was playing basketball. He played better this week now that his cold is gone and they ended up winning pretty big. Go team!
After naps we took the kids to the zoo! Nice weather just opens up a whole new realm of possibilities, doesn't it? (The Jungle was nice and steamy...see above picture...it was almost like we'd moved to South America!) We had a good time there and after dinner, Cubby made a Target run and picked up a punching bag (the blow up kind) for the kids--they loved it! Then, to top it off, "Dumb and Dumber" is on TV. I'd almost forgotten how darn funny that movie is. So, even though I didn't get the other bathroom cleaned (yet) and the garage really could've been swept out and poor Peanut didn't get a walk (although he did play at Lucy's, as usual), I still count today as a winner!

Tired, but Happy Kiddos
Well, Christian made it through his surgery! It was so quick. The recovery period was a bit rough--he was very crabby. However, once the Tylenol kicked in and he was able to nurse and then drink some water, he fell back to sleep and had a great nap! When he woke up, he was a very happy little guy! Hurray! I'm so relieved that things went smoothly.
Emily also had a big day. Daddy took the day off and was able to take her to gymnastics and then after naptime they went swimming for almost 2 hrs! After swimming they met Christian and me over at my Mom's house for Erin's birthday. Emily just loves Grandma's house and needless to say, she was exhausted when we got home! Let's all cross our fingers for a solid night's sleep!

Notes on Christian
On another note, Christian has started taking steps! Yes, he just started crawling last Sunday, but is already wanting to WALK! Albeit, they're wobbly first steps, but he's taking them. He'll be 9 months on the 29th! I think it'll still be one or two more before he's independent, but you never know. He also loves to babble and says "Ma Ma Ma" and makes squeaky dinosaur noises. Christian has also recently discovered books, especially the touch and feel books. He gets very engrossed in them--it's so cute!
He'll also be getting tubes put in his ears on Tuesday morning. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am! I know that it'll all be fine, but I still worry about the whole anestesia thing. I'm hoping that the tubes will help him to sleep better and that his ear infections will stop. They helped Emily. It definitely showed me that it doesn't matter if your baby was bottle or breast-fed, if their ear canals are shaped a certain way, they'll get ear infections. (It does help relieve some of the guilt from Emily being bottle-fed though.)

Nature in Nebraska
I want to do something fun and nature-ific this summer.....but here's the catch: it has to be in Nebraska and 3 hrs or less away from my house. We're going to try camping in our backyard for starters, but if all goes well, I'd really like to venture out! Does anyone have anywhere they'd recommend? More specifically, if you have small children and you've found a hot spot to hike or camp, could you please share? I'd really love for Emily to see a waterfall, but I think the Niobrara is the closest thing around here (and 7 hrs away is just a bit too much for us right now). Anyhow, I'd love any feedback.

Some TV can make you smarter - an "Emily-ism"
We were driving in our car the other day and listening to the radio when Emily says to me, "Mommy, I hear a clarinet!" (And it was a clarinet!) Surprised, I asked her how she knew that. She said, "Little Einsteins, Mommy!" So, I guess I don't feel so guilty about letting her watch that in the morning--she's actually picking good things up!
Another "Emily-ism" story: We finally ordered a new darkening shade for Christian's room. It's sitting in our bedroom, awaiting installation. The other day, Emily picks it up and hoists it on her shoulder. With toy tools in hand, she announces, "Let's get to work, Mommy!" It was so darn cute! Having a creative little girl definitely keeps life fun!

Valentine's Day Fun
Well, this is a bit late, since the little party was last week, but since today is Valentine's Day, and I didn't take any pictures today (Cubby and I got to go on a "romantic" outing to the dentist today!) I wanted to write about our family fun night out. As you can see from above, the kids had a great time learning the lefts and rights in the Hokey Pokey, and Cubby got a mouth (and nose) full of pie in the pie-eating contest! It was so fun to see everyone get into it--grown ups, kids, even the Sister Missionaries! Hi-larious.
In any case, last night was great! I got six (yes, count them, SIX) solid hours of sleep before Christian woke me up. (And he only woke up once last night!!!) AND, to top that stroke of good luck off, Emily didn't wake up at ALL and so Cubby got a good night's sleep too. Wow, needless to say that EVERYONE felt so good this morning. Thursdays are usually my toughest days (no idea why, but they never seem to run very smoothly), but today was great! I guess Heavenly Father knew it was Valentine's Day too and wanted to show us that he loves us! A cheesy thought, but, nonetheless, hurray! He knows that what I wanted most was some sleep :-). (What I want second most are clean bathrooms that I didn't have to clean--that will be Cubby's gift to me! Yeah!) I'm sure everyone else went out for a night on the town, but unromantic and practical me, I just want clean bathrooms.

A busy boy and "Lady Liberty"
These pictures make me smile and make up for the countless sleepless nights I endure! Christian is into EVERYTHING he can crawl to and this shot of Emily and her banana is a bit of a Statue of Liberty pose.
Anyhow, the kids are up from their naps (they're never long enough!) and we need to go and get tennis shoes for Emily. Her little shoes have no traction and she slips all over. Hopefully, Stride Rite will have something cute and non-clunky. Boys' tennis shoes are so much better at this age..we may just have to get some of those!
We're trying crock-pot ribs tonight. I hope they'll taste as good as they smell!

Christian is crawling!
Well, this is my first attempt at the world wide phenom of blogging! I figured that it was only fitting that I posted one of Christian's firsts: crawling! He just started after church today--crawling for the TV remote of all things! It was so neat to see him put everything together! I guess now we'll really have to baby-proof the house! I can't believe that my little baby boy is mobile. It seemed to take forever for Emily to turn one and here Christian is, only 4 months away from his first birthday!
